ECONOMY

What is a Sustainable Economy?

& What does it look like?

Sustainable economies are at their core, healthy economies – strong, resilient, and diverse – that have the ability to be maintained without irreversible damage to the planet or it's people.

These include and support a network of local, fair, green businesses. Fostering fair, green jobs. Demanding fair, green commercial practices. In turn offering fair, green products and services.

WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS?
WHERE ARE WE GOING?

-Widening inequalities dividing the very rich from the very poor

-More than 204 million people unemployed in 2015 (International Labour Organization)

-At local level, we need to work to find a balance between local economic development and sustainability when formulating policies and setting priorities

HOW?

Because our education system is built around the economy we as educators must teach students action competence. By developing students to be critical thinkers that can anaylze the issues in society we will build a generation that will make change. The students we teach must have an emotional connection to the content they are learning about and this site has been developed around HOW ecorportate sustainability into the curriculum
